Men’s Reading Glasses
You don’t have to be a “metrosexual” to want to look up-to-date and reasonably fashionable when you wear reading glasses. And yet, for years, stylish and modern men’s reading glasses were hard to come by. Fortunately that has been changing. Perhaps it’s thanks to the aging of the Baby Boomers, perhaps it’s because “50 is the new 40″ but whatever the reason, it’s a welcome change to finally be able to find a variety of smart, sharp looking frames and lens styles in men’s reading glasses.
Styles Just for Men
With their larger faces and features, men have specific design needs when it comes to reading glasses. For those who like a little extra style, either thicker plastic frames or modern rimless reading glasses are a great option.
Men’s larger features can easily accommodate the bolder look of thicker frames. Larger glasses provide more room for the optics so that irregularities like astigmatism can be addressed. Heavier frames worn over the course of the day can eventually irritate the ears, so it can sometimes be a bit of a challenge to find the best balance between bold style and long-wearing comfort.
Of course, lightweight rimless readers offer the greatest comfort for many. While the photographs don’t necessarily show the details, that’s one of their great advantages – they disappear on the face and allow the wearer’s full features to be seen without the distraction of rims. On the other hand, rimless frames can seem delicate and might not stand up to the heavier handling that men’s reading glasses sometimes get at job sites.
Beyond that, it’s really up to the individual to choose a style, shape, and frame that best suits his taste and provides the greatest comfort and practicality.
